

Simply stated, Evelyn was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Evelyn leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories.

Services for Evelyn Ottilie McClendon, 88, of Little River will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bartlett, with Pastor Joe Woodward officiating.
Burial will be in the Holland City Cemetery.
Mrs. McClendon died Friday, July 15 on her 88th birthday, at a nursing home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a blessedly short battle with pancreatic cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born July 15, 1928, in Sparks to William and Augusta Guenzel Spinn. She moved to Temple in 1945 and became an X-ray technician. During her career, she worked at King’s Daughters Hospital, Scott & White, and the VA Hospital. In her retirement, she volunteered thousands of hours at the VA Hospital in Temple, as well as being an active bowler and square dancer. She was a gifted crocheter, spending many hours creating baby blankets and gifts for her family and friends. In 2015, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be close to her son and grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McClendon.
Survivors include her son, Ken McCormick of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and daughter, Cindy Yates and son-in-law Russ Ham of La Paz, BCS, Mexico; one grandson, Judson McCormick of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; one sister, Frances Austin of Bulverde; and, one brother, Bill Spinn and wife Sheila of Gig Harbor, Washington.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church prior to the funeral service.
