Isabel Arellano Luna, age 64, passed away on March 23, 2015 in Austin, TX. Isabel is the eldest of nine children born to Jose and Juaquina Arellano. She began life in Tahoka, TX and her family later settled in the farming community of Granger, TX. She first laid eyes on Harold Luna in grade school and they became High School Sweethearts, finally marrying on August 14, 1971 after his return from service with the Navy. Isabel and Harold began their life together in Georgetown, TX, and welcomed their daughter Valerie there. In 1980, the family of three moved to central Austin and shortly after became a family of four with the arrival of daughter AnaAlicia. Isabel always loved baking, cooking, and sewing and her home was filled with savory and sweet aromas or the whirring sound of her sewing machine. She also enjoyed needle crafts and excelled in crochet. She shared her creations with her family and friends and passed on her favorite activities to her daughters, instructing, correcting, and encouraging their work. She was a wonderful teacher and particularly good with correction. Above all else, she loved her entire family. She built a family of four with Harold and cultivated the large family created by her eight brothers and sisters and Harold’s seven brothers and sisters. She attended all of her daughters’ school functions, often preparing food and trinkets, many times embellishing costumes or other items needed for their many dance performances. She enjoyed sharing milestones with her sisters, brothers, in-laws, nieces and nephews and scheduled her attendance months or weeks in advance. If she knew of a favorite dish or dessert, she arrived with it in hand.
She is survived by her husband and High School Sweetheart of 43 years, Harold Luna; her children, Valerie Luna and AnaAlicia Luna; her puppies Salma and Penelope; her cats Baby Rey, Hisser, Sylvie, Louis, and Carla; her grandpups Manuel and Ellye; her siblings, Elena Rodriguez and husband Jorge, Adela Cortinas, Jesus Arellano and wife Linda, Sofia Resa and husband Arturo, Carlos Arellano and wife Amanda, Jose Arellano Jr. and wife Nora, Monica Quintanilla and husband Richard, Lucia Arellano and husband Noe Cortez; her mother-in-law Ursula Luna; her in-laws, Mary Cortez, Paul Luna, Annette Williams, Susie Angel and husband Manuel, John Luna and wife Lisa, Lora Capetillo and husband Robert; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
