Juanita Maxwell Roose, of Taylor, went to be with her Lord on Sunday September 4, 2011, surrounded by her family and friends. Juanita was born in Austin on June 16, 1937, to William Aaron and Velma Louise Maxwell, who instilled in her the Christian values of thoughtfulness and understanding. On August 23, 1955, she married Fred Roose at the First Baptist Church of Taylor.
She will be remembered as a beautiful, friendly, loving woman. She touched hundreds of people’s hearts and spread a spirit of loving kindness wherever she went. She was active in her church, with her family, and among her large circle of friends. For many years, she played piano at the First Baptist Church in Taylor and at local rest homes. She excelled at domino and card games and anyone who had Juanita as their “Forty-Two” partner always had a distinct advantage. She collected clocks, especially those with unusual chimes. She was a wonderful cook, who practiced the cooking skills taught to her by her mother.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and she is survived by her husband Fred Roose of Taylor, two children, son Johnny Roose of Taylor, and daughter Teri with husband Tony Rocz of Oxford, Mississippi; three grandsons, Nick Rocz of Los Angeles, California, Travis Rocz with wife Jennifer and their children Tyler and Jayden of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and grandson Nathan Rocz of Pflugerville; sisters Norma Carol Bowman with husband Jim Bowman of La Grange, Ann Sandifer with husband Joe Sandifer of Waco, and brother William Maxwell with wife Claire Maxwell of Taylor; and sister-in-law Eilen Beery with husband Tom Beery of Rockdale.
