

Nora Helen Pruitt Holman, a resident of Taylor for 30 years, passed away on Sunday June 10, 2012 at the age of 80. She was born June 9, 1932 in New London, Texas to parents John Pruitt and Nora Parilee Hatfield Pruitt.
Helen graduated from Tomball High School in Tomball, Texas in 1950.
Helen married Fred E. Holman, Jr. of Taylor on October 6, 1976. During their time together they lived on North Drive and Frink Street.
Helen loved people and the value of community service, so she volunteered many years at St. Vincent De Paul, Johns Community Hospital and other worthy causes in Taylor. Helen was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Taylor, and she enjoyed her worked as a volunteer at Central Texas Medical Center Auxiliary.
Helen loved gardening, volunteering, and cooking countless delicious meals for her family over the years. She is famous for her chicken fried steak and cherry pies. Her Christmas rum cake is a treasured recipe that will be made in her honor for many holidays to come.
In 2006 after the passing of Fred, Helen moved to San Marcos to be closer to her daughter and family.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 30 years, Fred E. Holman Jr.; brother Vernon Pruitt; sisters Dorothy and Pauline; and the precious aunt and uncle who raised her, Alta and Silas Pruitt of Tomball.
Helen is survived by her daughter Pat Tessaro and husband Mike of San Marcos; brother Burl Pruitt and wife Tinny of Yantis; sister Minnie Penny of Cleveland; brother-in-law Calvin Holman of Taylor; niece Brenda Holmes and husband Kevin of Lovelady; three grandsons, Aaron Tessaro and wife Jamie of New Braunfels; Matthew Tessaro and wife Nicole of New Braunfels, and Johnny Tessaro and wife Lacey of New Braunfels; and two great grandchildren, Logan and Lilliana Tessaro of New Braunfels.
For the last year of her life she resided at Emeritus – San Marcos, an assisted living facility. Helen was the life of the party at Emeritus and her cheerful smile and playful spirit will be missed greatly.
The family wishes to thank the ER staff of Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, the ICU staff at St. David’s Hospital South in Austin, and the staff and residents of Emeritus – San Marcos for their friendship and care.
Pallbearers will be Mike Tessaro, Aaron Tessaro, Matthew Tessaro, Johnny Tessaro, and Jeff Masters.
A visitation was held in Condra Funeral Home on Tuesday June 12 2012 at 6pm.
A Funeral Service will be held in Condra Funeral Home on Wednesday June 13 2012 at 10am. Interment will follow immediately thereafter.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Vincent DePaul, and Johns Community Hospital Auxillary.
