Ruth was a beloved, generous, cherished, thoughtful, wise, and kind-hearted woman whose presence brought steady comfort and care to those around her.
In 1964, Ruth married the love of her life, Wallace, in San Antonio, Texas. Ruth’s greatest devotion was to her family, and she poured herself into a life centered on love, guidance, and togetherness. She was the proud mother of four children—two sons and two daughters—and her legacy continues through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth found joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms of home. She loved watching birds, her favorites were cardinals and hummingbirds, and she treasured time in the kitchen baking, cooking, and canning. Those closest to her will remember the care she put into every jar and every dish—especially her pickles and sweet-and-sour beets—made with patience, skill, and the quiet generosity that defined her life.
Ruth is survived by her children: Shanni Shelburne; Donald Schlickeisen (Teresa); Dena Taylor (Chad); and Edgar Schlickeisen (Angela). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Billy (Holly), Phillip (Tara), Johnny (Ashley)James (Kaley), Danny, Brandie (Ricky), Zachary (Meredith), Craig, Julie (Jason), Tyler (Brenae), Rhiannon, Kayleigh (Derek), Judy, Diedra, and Ean; as well as 31 great grandkids, 31 great-great-grandkids and her brother Ewalt Schneider. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Wallace, her parents and her son-in-law, Roy Shelburne
