Sally Amy Olsen Craft was quite a woman. She was Born and grew up in 1942 in Boulder, CO to Wilbur (Tiny) and Amy Olsen, and had one brother, Jerry.
She Met the dashing Darryl Craft at Boulder high circa 1960, and After graduating from Boulder high in 1962, she married Darryl and went to college at Adams State University on scholarship to be a schoolteacher for English and physical education. She was named a Whose Who in American Colleges, which applies honors to students with solid academic and extra curricular activities.
After college graduation, the couple moved across country to San Luis Obispo CA where she lived and taught English, and PE. After she had her first child there, the family moved back to Colorado in 1969.
Before her second child Damon was born, she prayed to the gods that he wouldn’t have red hair like Darryl’s side of the family, however, when Damon was introduced to the world, he had a full head of red hair and the temperament to go with it. This evidenced by his trying to punch his similarily red headed grandmother at 3 years old when she told him he couldn’t ride the Silverton single track train for a second time.
She was a great mom, and wrote incredibly detailed stories in the kid’s baby books. Her very favorite story was when she took her young son to the grocery store past the seafood section and at checkout, he told the checker “I see you have crabs today”. With no response from the checker.
After her husband’s death in 1980, she moved back to Boulder and single handedly raised 2 rebellious teenagers which likely was what caused her to start smoking again.
She is survived by her daughter Cori who moved her to Bartlett Tx last year to be closer together. She learned to like it somewhat; after living in Colorado her whole life, and managed to live there happily until her passing along with her dogs Lillie and Sadie. She was always an ardent Animal lover and cherished all dogs, especially the ones left behind by her children for her to care for.
She was a prolific painter and liked to Paint flowers and scenery. Sally was also a good cook. She Made Lasagne and salads to die for. Although her leftover Thanksgiving Turkey pizza was an experiment gone wrong, she had a secret yeast roll recipe that she would never share.
She had a great sense of humor. She was a Citizens of Humanity ringer who could win most games with the weirdest, funniest cards which made her laugh until she cried.
She endured countless School trips and bake sales with her kid’s classes and went to all the holidays celebrations and concerts and sports that her kids played.
Although not a redhead, she had a temper as well. she once turned the hose on a group of neighboring revelers at a 4th of July party across her fence at her neighbors house in Johnstown, when they wouldn’t stop lighting off fireworks near her favorite giant spruce tree.
She had many good friends from high school, jobs and people she met along the way.
She was a cool and thoughtful lady, and she will be greatly missed by her daughter and many friends alike.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CondraFuneralHome.com for the Craft family.
