Sylvia Laverne O’Neal Coburn, left this earthly world on September 29, 2021 joining her beloved daughter, Misty Lea, who she loving referred to as her “Little Hummingbird”. She would have been 64 this month. Sylvia passed quietly after suffering years of back and nerve pain and most recently Covid pneumonia. She was surrounded by her loving husband and sons. She is now in heaven with family members gone before her and no longer in pain or suffering. Her presence will be missed by many.
Sylvia’s favorite place in the world was her craft room, were she spent many hours surrounded by a plethora of every kind of craft items you could think of. She also couldn’t wait for the many nights her eldest “sweet sister” Barbara, would call and talk for hours about crafts and life.
Sylvia had a heart as big as Texas and would give you her last dime. She had a special place in her heart for homeless animals and homeless people, offering anything she could. When several of Misty’s and the boys friends came upon hard times Sylvia didn’t think twice about giving them a place to live when they had no where to go and treated them like her own children. She was known as Mom to this day by dozens.
Sylvia is survived by her beloved husband John Coburn, sons James Coburn, his wife JoAnn and their three children. Sons Ryan, and Eric Coburn, siblings Raleigh O’Neal and wife Vivian, Barbara and her husband Ken Carter, Stanley O’Neal and his wife Cellie, Alan O’Neal and his wife Kathy.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Raleigh and Noma O’Neal, sister Glenda Shaw, brother baby Jimmy and her only daughter Misty Lea O’Neal, as well as two very special dogs, Nellie and Trip (Intrepid) Misty’s service dogs, and her favorite prairie dog Peanut and numerous other pets during her life.
In this life it is as though we are trapped in a cocoon but now you are free to become the butterfly. May you Rest In Peace my lovely wife and best friend.
