

She was born November 14, 1929 in Engle, Texas to Joseph Paul Jalufka and Millie Elsie Shimek.
She met and married Robert Woodrow Hegar November 25, 1949 in Granger, TX. A few years later they moved from Holland to Thorndale, TX where they called home the last 64 years and raised their four sons. Val was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, friends, the church and the VFW. She took pride in her Czech heritage by making homemade kolaches and pastries. She enjoyed gardening and canning her homegrown vegetables. Her true love was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog Chipper.
Val is survived by her four sons, Robert and wife Cheryl, Steve and wife Kathy, Justin, Preston and wife Terri. Her 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary Ann and Clarance Lange.
She is proceeded in death by husband Robert W. Hegar, parents Joseph Paul Jalufka, Millie and George Henry Balusek, sister Evelyn Spann, sister Doris and Larry Janke, brother Robert Balusek, brother Dan and Martha Balusek.
Graveside services will be held at Holland Cemetery with her grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.
