

Van was born in Taylor, TX on July 16, 1940, to the late Van Sr. and Carrie (Dentler) Stiba. He graduated from Taylor High School and continued on to the US Army where he repaired panels on missiles and radar equipment. He married Shirley Tomancak on July 20, 1960, they were married for 63 years.
Van worked as an auto parts manager and farmed on the family farm. He enjoyed making wine for St. Mary’s Catholic Church along with baking fresh bread and pecan pies for the sisters at St. Mary’s. Van loved buying old cars and trucks and restoring them. He loved being with his family and watching his grandsons grow up. He also enjoyed visiting with friends at McDonalds.
Van is survived by his spouse, Shirley; daughters, Michele Samuelson (Mark), Lisa Repa (Keith), grandsons; Seth Samuelson (Kenzi), Cade Samuelson (Allie), and his brother, Frank Stiba.
Van is preceded in death by his parents Van, Sr & Carrie (Dentler) Stiba and his sister Vannette Baker
Per the family’s request all services will be held privately.
Pallbearers will be Mark Samuelson, Keith Repa, Seth Samuelson, and Cade Samuelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you consider making a memorial donation in Van’s honor to St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church of Taylor, Texas.
