Edith Ethel Russell

Mrs. Edith Whitehead Russell age 97 of New Tazewell, TN was born February 23, 1914 and went to be with the Lord April 19, 2011 at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. Edith’s life was dedicated to her relationship with the Lord. She was an energetic and exciting force in various churches and missions, but her personal mission was to give over 60,000 crosses, saying, “The Lord loves you and so do I: Each day I start my day with prayer and pray to the Lord to bless my family by name and to bless you; even though I may not know you, but that the Lord does.” She left a profound legacy in her works and dedication. Second only to God was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas D. and Maggie Phelps Whitehead; brother, Frank Whitehead and her loving husband of 56 years. Claude W. Russell.

the family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M. Friday April 22, 2011 at Coffey Funeral Home chapel with celebration of life ceremony at 8:00 P.M. Friday night with Rev. Shane Bonham and Rev. Jeff Evans officiating. Music will be provided by Scott Word, Bob Winter, Stanley Leonard and pianist, Mary Russell. Graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 23, 2011. Pallbearers: Mark Russell, Dr. Chris Cox, Shane Bonham, Dave Roberts, Daniel Russell, Scott Word, Tom Runions, Lenox Russell, Ed Swilling and Doug Venable.
