Evelyne E.H. Myatt

Evelyne E. H. Myatt (b. October 4, 1928) passed away on Feb. 17, 2016. Evelyne was married to the Hon. Gordon Julian Myatt, Sr. (Ret.) for nearly 66 years, and together, they had three sons: Gordon (Jay) Julian Myatt, Jr. (m. Benita), Kevin Andrew Myatt (m. Gail), and Craig Allen Myatt, Sr. (m. Christine). Evelyne graduated from Montclair High School in Montclair, New Jersey, and later earned her bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of California in Moraga, California. Evelyne had a lifetime commitment to private and public sector community service. Evelyne, alongside her husband, was also an active long time member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. and The Church by The Side of the Road in Berkeley, California, having served in several church guilds and committees. In Tampa, Evelyne was an active member of Bible Based Fellowship Church, where she served in the SAGE ministry by helping elderly and convalescent individuals throughout the Tampa Bay community. Evelyne was an active member of The Links, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and the League of Women Voters, having served in various leadership roles throughout her time with these organizations. Evelyne’s legacy continues not only through her husband, but also through her three sons, three daughters-in-law; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who know and love her. The family will receive friends, 6:30 - 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel. There will be a celebration of Evelyne’s life on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., Bible-Based Fellowship Church, 4811 Ehrlich Road. She will be laid to rest at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa, Florida.
