He was born Aug. 31, 1932 in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents B.F. Albertson, Mary I. McGee Albertson, two brothers, B.F. Albertson, Jr., R.W. Albertson and sister Virginia Weed all pre deceased him. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Stellyne (Jo) Johnson Albertson, his son Bradly (Brad) Albertson and his wife Leeann of Tampa, FL., his son Frank (Andy) Albertson of St. Petersburg, FL., four grandchildren Jason Albertson, Casey Albertson Falls, Benjamin (Ben) Albertson, Andrew Albertson and step granddaughter, Kendal Bungert Griffith and great grandchildren, Derek Falls, Leah Falls, Emmie Falls, Carter Albertson and Cora Albertson.
He graduated from Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, GA where he earned two state championships in track & field and an athletic scholarship to the University of TN, Knoxville. While at UT he established a school and Southeastern Conference record and earned four individual SEC championships. He was Captain of the 1953 Track team, an officer of the Lettermans Club and a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He remained a life long supporter of UT, and was a major donor and the contact person for the Alf Holmberg Endowment for a Track Scholarship.
After graduation from UT in 1953 he served a two year active duty tour in the U.S. Air Force. He was discharged from the reserves as a Captain. In 1957 he was employed by Smith Kline and French Laboratories in New Orleans, LA. He worked in New Orleans, LA, Memphis, TN, and retired from Smith Kline Beacham Laboratories in Tampa, FL in 1990. He was a long time Rotarian and Paul Harries Fellow belonging to the Down Town Tampa and to the Temple Terrace Clubs. He was a Mason for over 60 years with memberships in the Square and Compass Lodge 417 of Kenner, LA.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
