

Geraldine "Gerry" Carnahan, 84, of Temple Terrace, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022. Geraldine was born July 30, 1938, in Subic Bay Naval Base, Philippines, the daughter of Gertrude and Lester Schott.
First and foremost, Geraldine was a loving and inspirational wife and mother. She was a lifelong Catholic and served as a Eucharistic minister and catechism teacher. She volunteered at Catholic Charities, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and Schaarai Zedek preschool.
She was an avid reader, traveler, and master bridge player. She loved fishing, flying, gourmet cooking, painting, hiking, camping, and going to the beach. She rarely missed going to her children's and grandchildren's activities. Her social activities included Friends of Sarasota Ballet, Ladies of the Crown, 50/50, Werner Friendship Club, USF Friendship Club, and USF Woman's Club.
After receiving her degree, she went to work for Pepperdine University as an admissions coordinator and later worked for NUS Corporation. Upon serving 22 years in the US Army, her husband, Dr. Robert Carnahan, retired, and they moved to Tampa, Fl, where she remained a dutiful housewife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. Robert Carnahan, Sr., and brother, Frederick Schott. Survivors include her sons, Dr. Robert Carnahan, Jr., Christopher Carnahan (Maria), and Sean Carnahan (Anetka); grandchildren, Keegan Carnahan, Caid Carnahan, and Quincy Carnahan; brothers, Lester and Richard Schott; and sister, Barbara E. Schott. Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 2-5 p.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 12690 N.56th Street, Temple Terrace, Florida, 33617. Interment at Sarasota National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
