In his youth, Howard was an Eagle Scout. He served in the Florida Air National Guard from 1960-66. In 1969, Howard earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Jones College in Jacksonville. He took over ownership of his family's business, Banes Citrus Grove in Floral City, Florida. Howard's great joy was fishing from Hubbard's Marina in Madeira Beach. Most recently he loved volunteering his time at J&T Fishing Tackle at Tampa Mall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Brian Banes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Hanna Banes; nieces and nephews, Holly Golden Simmel (Keith), I. Karl Golden (Lauri), Jared Bernd Golden (Dana) and Michael McMaster Windham (Amy); great-nieces Anna Simmel and Ryker Windham and great-nephew, Grant Simmel.
The family will receive friends from 4 - 6 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks, 12690 N. 56th Street, Temple Terrace, FL 33617.
