Rita Arrowood, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20th 2022 at the age of 93. She is survived by children Paul Arrowood (Dana), Teresa Driscoll, Charles Arrowood (Veronica), David Arrowood (Sharon), Cheryl Arrowood-Martens, Sandra Liepper, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (with another on the way).
As one of thirteen children, Rita fostered an early love and appreciation for family. She was a dedicated mother and worked tirelessly to support her children. Some of the family’s fondest memories are of Rita bringing everyone together over a home-cooked Italian meal and a game of cards.
Rita was also greatly admired for her passion surrounding her work. After earning her degree in 1974, she worked as a special education and learning disabilities teacher for over 20 years, eventually retiring at the age of 68.
She was an avid reader, volunteer for adult continuing education programs, eucharistic minister/lector at Concordia Chapel, and had a deep love for animals. Rita rescued several cats throughout her life and in recent years was well known for her love of her orange tabby Leo.
Rita’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends as well as through the many lives that she touched.
