William was born on September 20, 1957 to John and Norma Dunn in Nashville, Tennessee. After William graduated from Pembroke High School in 1975, he went on to study Health Administration at East Tennessee State University. He played on East Tennessee State University soccer team, and while attendance may have been small at the games, he swears he was the backbone of their strong defensive front.
After graduating with a degree in Health Administration, he explored several career paths ranging from t-shirt printing, photography, and real estate before deciding to settle down as a government agent for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and later the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Even after choosing his career, William moonlighted as a stand-up comedian for several years around the Tampa Bay area.
William went on to have two children, Jacob and Camryn Dunn. Shortly after, he lost what was left of the hair on his head. From that point forward he adorned his look with the shining bald head that many knew him by. William spent several years coaching youth soccer, trying to teach kids that sometimes it’s better to pass the ball than take the shot, and trying to explain to both parents and kids that defensive positions were just as important as the forwards.
As the kids went off to college, William found great ways to spend his newly found free time including pitching business ideas off to his friends and family, day trading stocks pretending he was on Wall Street, keeping politicians and celebrities in check on social media via his commentary, and entertaining his thousands of Twitter followers with original memes and one liners.
William was preceded in death by his parents John and Norma Dunn. He is survived by his two children Jacob (Madelyn) Dunn and Camryn Dunn.
Services will be held at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Funeral Home (12690 N 56th St, Temple Terrace, FL 33617) on February 11th at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, an organization William felt strongly about.
