Services for A.J. Harrison Sr., 90, of Temple will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant View Cemetery in Troy with Rev. Ernest Thompson officiating. A.J. died Tuesday, Jan 11, 2011 in a Temple hospital.
A.J. was born March 21, 1920 in Jarrell to Jim Harrison and Elizabeth Raley Harrison. He married Helen Reid and served overseas with the Army during WWII for 3 ½ years, then with the Merchant Marines for 2 years. He was a heavy machine operator with American Desk in Temple for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, one daughter, Dianne Miller of Austin, one son, A.J. Harrison Jr. of Rogers, three grandchildren, one step-grandchild, four great-grandchildren and three sisters; Ruby Ezell of Alvarado, Mildred Evans of Soldotna, AK and Billie Thorn of Texas City.
Visitation will be today 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
