Annie was the loving mother of James Jenkins (Dawn Jenkins) and Michael Jenkins, and she is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Crerena Strong. She was the cherished daughter of William L. Barber and Edith Barber, both of whom preceded her in death. Annie is survived by her two devoted sisters, Betty Jackson of Alabama and Judy Bowers of Mississippi, and preceded in death by her siblings William L. Barber Jr., Grada Duvall, and Barbara Barber.
Family was the center of Annie’s world. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She found happiness in simple pleasures—crocheting beautiful pieces by hand, collecting dolls and jewelry, and spending evenings playing bingo or card games with loved ones. Her home was filled with laughter, warmth, and the sweet sounds of her beloved Elvis Presley.
Annie worked throughout her life as both a waitress and a secretary, known for her kindness, patience, and unwavering work ethic. But above all, she will be remembered as a woman of deep faith—a firm believer in living for Jesus, whose strength and love reflected in everything she did.
Annie’s spirit will live on in the countless hearts she touched. Her love, humor, and steadfast faith will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever shine bright in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her.
