

Services for Elvin Dwain Ward, 72, of Temple will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Oak Park United Methodist Church in Temple. He died Thursday, April 29, 2010 in Round Rock surrounded by loving family. Services will be officiated by Chaplain Dub Falsome of Lighthouse Hospice in Round Rock. Burial will follow at Kerens City Cemetery in Kerens, TX. Services have been entrusted to Crawford-Bowers Funeral of Temple.
Dwain was born February 22, 1938 in Powell, Texas to Wilburn Harvel Ward and Florine Quinn Ward. Married, March 11, 1960, Dwain recently celebrated 50 memorable years with his wife, Doris Evelyn “Sue” Franklin Ward. They had three wonderful sons, Mike, Joe and Don.
Mr. Ward began a career with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in 1958 in Corsicana, TX continuing his service in Canadian, TX, Silverton, TX and Bowie, TX, before moving to Temple in 1979. He retired in February of 2008 after 50 years of service.
Dwain leaves behind his wife Sue of Temple; three sons, Mike Ward and his wife Vonnet of Bowie, Joe Ward and his wife Pat of Cedar Park, and Don Ward and his wife Tammy of Temple; and six grandchildren; Matthew Ward, Trista Sanders, Lauren Garcia, Daniel Ward, Katie Ward, and Derek Ward.
The family will receive friends for visitation at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple. Words of condolence may be shared at www.crawfordbowerstemple.com.
