Ivy was born on June 4, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas to Saline Joseph and Noamie Collier Breaux. He graduated from Port Arthur High School and enlisted in the Army shortly after. Ivy was stationed in Germany and participated in the investigation of Nazi war crimes. He met his first wife, Phyllis Freddo while in Germany and they were married when they returned to the US. After his time in the military, he went to work for a foundry as a maintenance man and eventually worked his way up to starting his own company. In 1969, Ivy founded Delta Centrifugal in New Orleans, Louisiana and later moved the company to Temple in 1971. After selling the company, he formed another company, Centrifugal Casting Inc., or C.C.I., in Temple and after selling C.C.I., Ivy founded American Spincast in Belton, Texas in 1982. He was still active in American Spincast, never giving up his knack to improve the products used in the foundry industry. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling and the people and stories he encountered in his travels. He loved the water, always making sure his homes were near or on the water. His love for travel might only have been eclipsed by his love of music, fishing, and his lifelong membership in the Democratic Party.
Mr. Breaux was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Phyllis Breaux, and a daughter Anita Breaux Ingrassia, as well as brothers Raymond and Albert Breaux.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Breaux of Belton, daughters Ellen Breaux and Elizabeth Breaux Jones, both of Belton, brothers Emory and Bill Breaux, grandchildren Jason Jones, Emily Kate Jones, Shelby Morris,Rachel Ivy Morris, and Andrea Ingrassia, and great-grandchild Nicklas Vankirk.
Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of the arrangements.
