

James Cleo Henson, 79, of Temple, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2001 at his home in Temple. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple with Chaplain Judy Hoelscher officiating. Services have been entrusted to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple.
James was born Oct 13, 1931 in Mulberry, Arkansas to Carl Vesta Henson and Dorothy Gregg Henson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he received the Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation among others. Upon Honorable Discharge he joined the Army Reserve. He worked for H. B. Zachary Construction for many years and retired from the City of Temple. He married Paula Marcell Smith in 1952 and JoAnn Tobert in 1987. Both wives preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, James G. Henson, of Temple; one daughter, Carla Olson, of Temple; one brother Paul Henson and his wife Janie of Burleson; two sisters, Ann Schmalreide and her husband James of McGregor and Beverly Maxfield and her husband Gary of Waco; one grandson, Michael Olson and his wife Becky of Temple; and one great-granddaughter, Kelsie Olson of Temple.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be designated to the givers charity of choice.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
