

Marvin was born to Marvin Monroe and Lillie Jane Neel on July 5, 1933 in Thomaston, Texas. He was raised in Houston, Texas with sister, Natalie Neel Schmidt and brother, Edward Neel. Marvin served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957, spending a few years in Germany.
Marvin married Patricia Ann Smith at Beech Creek Baptist Church in Hillister, Texas on July 25, 1958. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Houston in 1964 while raising their young family in Houston.
Marvin retired from National Oilwell, Inc. (formerly Baylor Company) in 2001 and moved to Temple, Texas with Patricia to start their retirement years. Marvin was a member of First Baptist Church in Belton, Texas for many years.
Marvin is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; daughters, Janet Neel Karr and Laura Neel Justice; sons, Mark Neel and Paul Neel; grandchildren, Kody Neel, Katee Neel Wilson, Kristin Karr Derrickson, David Karr, Jr., Alexis Neel, Kylie Neel, Brynna Justice, and Abigail Justice; great-grandchildren Reece, Rhett, Walker, Waylon, and Wrenlee Wilson; Clay Neel, and Hudson Derrickson.
Marvin was predeceased by grandsons Austin and Tyler Karr. The funeral service will be held on February 2, 2026 at 11 am at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home located at 3220 S. 31st St., Temple, Texas, 76502.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Temple Animal Shelter and include "Memory of Marvin Neel" on the memo line or included note ( City of Temple Animal Shelter, 620 Mama Dog Circle, Temple, TX 76504).
Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a private interment service for the family at Hillcrest Cemetery.
