Services for Myrtle will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Salado Cemetery in Salado. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
Myrtle was born on January 19, 1920 in Copperas Cove to Ben and Hilda Haedge Kriegel. Myrtle graduated from Belton High School and became a nurse, working at the old Scott and White Hospital and at King’s Daughters Hospital. She married A. Bryant Messer in Walburg on January 31, 1939. After ending her nursing career, she worked as a Park Aid for the City of Temple.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Mrs. Messer is survived by her daughter, Hildona Messer, a grandson Zane Kegley, great grandson Steven Kegley, and a great-great grandson.
