

Orvil E. “Gene” Haggard, born February 16, 1945, in Missouri to Alfred and Golda Haggard, passed away on March 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived in Salado, Texas, where he built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
Gene was a proud United States Air Force veteran who served his country with honor and dedication. His strength, integrity, and quiet patriotism were evident throughout his life and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Gene shared nearly 59 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Joanna Haggard. Their enduring love and partnership stood as a beautiful example of commitment, devotion, and friendship. Together, they built a strong and loving family that remained at the center of Gene’s life.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Joanna Haggard; his children, Brad, Angie, and Cindy; five cherished grandchildren; and one beloved great-grandson. He is also survived by his brothers, James and Earl, and his sisters, Lois and Cathy. Gene took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in watching them grow and thrive.
Gene loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing. Whether casting a line in quiet waters or sharing stories with family and friends, these moments brought him peace and happiness and created cherished memories for those who joined him.
Gene will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. ❤️
