Robert "Bob" K Newell Jr.

Robert (Bob) K. Newell Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Temple, TX on March 5, 2026. He was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to Robert and Sophie Newell. He served in the Army from December 15, 1967 to July 29, 1971. On August 6, 1968, he was transferred to Fort Hood, TX. During his tour, he received the medal of honor for Marksmanship and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 29, 1971. After the Army, he worked for the city of Killeen for several years before starting his 42-year career with Brazos Power and Electric as a Power Maintenance Technician.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister, Eilleen Hall of Pennsylvania and his wife, Mary Ann Newell of Temple.

Survivors include daughter Pauline Kline, her children, Nicole Barnes and husband Frank Barnes, Selima Barlow, and Jamie Kline all of San Antonio, TX, daughter Kathy Manson and husband John Manson of Moody, TX and their children Samantha Klinko and husband James (Jimmy) Klinko, and Jennifer Manson, daughter Bobbie Newell of Temple, TX. He was also survived by his 8 great-grandchildren; Angel Ramirez, Avery Barlow, Sienna Barlow, Layla Barlow, Gwendolyn Barnes, Kayleigh Barlow-Meyers, Kaden Meyers, and Briar Klinko.
