
Shirley Marshall Johnson, age 91 of Little River-Academy left this world on March 12. Services will be held on March 15th, 10:00 a.m. at Little River Methodist Church, with burial at Wilson Valley Cemetery. Family visitation and reception will follow at the church.
Shirley was born September 12, 1922 in Bell County near Heidenheimer, Texas to the late William Bert Marshall and Hester Emaline Wallace. Shirley spent most of her life in Bell County. She graduated from Academy High School in 1940 and married J.B. (Johnnie Buel) Johnson on August 19, 1944. She had two sons, Johnnie Lee and Wallace Marshall.
During World War II Shirley worked in Corpus Christi, Texas at the naval base while J.B. was serving in the Navy. After the war Shirley and J.B. eventually settled in Little River-Academy. Shirley went to work for Temple Tag in Little River-Academy and retired after 25 years of service. Shirley became a member of the Little River Methodist Curch on May 27, 1951. She taught Sunday School and she and J.B. were also the leaders of the Methodist Youth group. She is a member of United Methodist Women and was active in the Boy Scouts. Shirley and J.B were very active in their community and were sponsors of the Little River-Academy walking trail.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband J.B. (Johnnie Buel) Johnson; her parents, late William Bert Marshall and Hester Emaline Wallace; her brother, William Dale Marshall and her three sisters, Nola Marshall Shults, Edith Marshall Segler and Billie Burt Marshall Kattner. She is survived by her two sons, Johnnie Lee Johnson of Round Rock, Texas and Wallace Marshall Johnson and wife Mary of Bryan. Also seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Shirley also leaves numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Shirley was loved by everyone who knew her and she will reside in our hearts forever.
Pall Bearers are Brian Johnson, Jevon Johnson, Tracer Johnson, Marshall Johnson, Russell Winnett and Ricky Winnett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilson Valley Cemetery or Little River Methodist Church.
The family will receive visitors from 6pm-8pm, Friday, March 14 at Crawford-BowersFuneral Home in Temple.
