Walter Schaefer, of Temple, Texas passed away at a local hospital on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Graveside services will be at Holland Cemetery on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11am. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 8:30am to 10:30am prior to the service.
He was born on October 3, 1930 in Taylor, Texas where he was baptized Catholic, son of Stephen and Lydia Schaefer, now deceased.
He served in Korea for the U.S. Army. After completing his four years of service he was employed by the Civil Service at Fort Hood for 38 years where he was fondly known as “Bulldog”. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of Temple Gun Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lou Kordes Schaefer; his son, Stephen Joseph and wife Lori; granddaughter Sarah Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Wayne Schaefer.
In lieu of flowers donations made to First Lutheran Church, 1515 West Adams Avenue, Temple, TX 76504 will be greatly appreciated.
