

Betty Jean Gillespie, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Regional Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1930, in Casey, IL to Charles L. and Cecil (Ratts) Mumford. They preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Casey High School. She married Joseph William Gillespie who preceded her in death in 1966. She worked for Judge Johnston, Lovelace Truck Service, and Pipetrades Industry Heath and Welfare #157. Betty was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics play, college basketball, and the Little League World Series. She truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family and her neighbors.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Charles Joseph Gillespie of Miami, FL and Steven K. Gillespie and his wife Debra L. of Rockville; grandchildren, Curtis R. Gillespie and his wife, Aubrey, Julie M. Murray and her husband Brian, and Rich Baker; great-grandchildren, Kali, Jack, Gabe, Carden, and Casey; a brother Russell K. Mumford and his wife Viv of Lafayette, sisters Winifred Bliss and her husband Bill of Hobart, IN, and Carolyn DePratt of Danville, IL; a cousin, Imogene Allison of Terre Haute, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, October 4 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will take place on Tuesday, October 4 at 1 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Leach officiating.
