

CLINTON — Betty Jean Reed of Sandy, Utah, and formerly of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at Alta View Hospital in Sandy. Born April 15, 1922, in Clinton, she was the daughter of James Cunningham and Stella Somes Cunningham.
She was a retired legal secretary, having worked in that profession for 32 years and retiring in December 1981. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1939 and attended Terre Haute Commercial College. After living in Indiana her entire life, most of that time in Clinton, she moved to Salt Lake City in August 2007, to be near her family.
She was a member of Clinton First United Methodist Church. She also was a member-at-large of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Beta Sigma Chapter, and while living in Clinton belonged to the Clinton Lunch Bunch.
Her husband, Robert E. Reed Sr., predeceased her Nov. 23, 1987. She also was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Grace Marilyn Hannoy; brother-in-law, Eli Hannoy; and great-grandson, John Robert Peel.
She is survived by one son, Col. Robert E. Reed Jr., (U.S. Air Force Retired) and his wife Carol of Sandy; a granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Peel and husband John of Dripping Springs, Texas; a grandson, Robert W. Reed and wife Jennifer of Sandy; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Warren Peel of Dripping Springs and Marcus Charles Reed and Lucas Keil Reed of Sandy; stepgrandson, Jeffrey Nathaniel Clark and wife Roseanna, three stepgreat-granddaughters, Lilah Michelle Clark, Tori Ann Clark and Natalie Rose Clark, all of Sandy; stepgrandsons, Thomas Eban Clark and Thea Sam of Salt Lake City; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Clinton relatives include Wilhemene Nall and family, Betty Sims and family and Linda (Jeff) Gosnell and family, all of Clinton.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., Clinton. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, with the Revs. Jon Sims and Tom Barnett officiating at First United Methodist Church, in Clinton, with visitation one hour prior to service.
