Carl Edward Leslie

Carl Edward Leslie, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 1, 1929, in Terre Haute, to the late Albert “Hob” and Arietta (Mitchell) Leslie. He married Joan Patterson on July 3, 1953 and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Eugene, Elmer, and Marion Leslie.

Carl is survived by his sons: Douglas Leslie and wife Beryle, Robert “Mike” Leslie and his wife Sherry, and John Leslie and his wife Michelle, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren: Tracie Brown and husband Scott of Brazil, Ashley Hall and husband Craig of Terre Haute, Amanda Leslie of Clinton, Andrea McKinney and fiancé Jeff Conley, John Robert Leslie and fiancée Rachel Hovey, Jessica Martin and husband Jimmy, all of Terre Haute, Dakota Allen and fiancee Tyler Long of Adel, GA, and Chelsea Allen of Columbus, GA; great-grandchildren: Roy and Austin Brown, Aaron, Andrew, Alex, and Emily McKinney, Jordin Conley, Jack Douglas Hall, and Ryder Allen; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Carl graduated from Gerstmeyer High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War. Carl retired from Tredegar Film Products. He was a little league baseball coach and his teams won 2 state championships. His All-Star team went to the Little League World Series. He was also a basketball coach for the Biddy Basketball team at the Boys Club, where he was a lifelong member. Carl was an avid bowler. He was a member of VFW Post 972 and the Masons. Carl and Norma enjoyed camping and traveling together.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25 and again from 9 to 11 on Wednesday, November 26 at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Roush officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
