

Carly Amanda Rice, 9, of West Terre Haute passed away Saturday May 24, 2014 in the Childrens Hospital Of Cincinnati, OH where she was transported by air after sustaining injuries in a bicycle accident at the Mounds Recreational Area Campground near Brookville, IN. She was a fourth grade student at West Vigo Elementary School in West Terre Haute where she was an active little girl and involved in many school activities and functions. She was a member of the West Side Runners which is a running club at school. She also enjoyed playing Volleyball, basketball, and Softball. She was a member of the team for the West Terre Haute Girls Softball and the Wabash Valley Girls Softball. She enjoyed playing her guitar and singing and recently performed at the school talent show. She was very involved in the Early Bird Camp with the Terre Haute Boys and Girls Club where she also played basketball. Carly also loved to go out on the Wabash River with her dad and spending time on their island, also going coon hunting and playing with her brother. She was a member of the St. Mary Of The Woods Village Catholic Church. Carly was born July 28, 2004 in Clinton, IN to Frank Rice and Julie Doane Rice. Survivors include: Her Parents; two brothers Coleman Rice and Caleb Lenover; her paternal grandparents Frank and Sally Rice; an aunt and uncle Shannon and Troy Corbett; an aunt Jessica Doane; a great aunt and great uncle Thayne and Joanie Doane of Clinton, IN; and four cousins Taylor, Blaine, and Bryce Corbett, and Taygan Wright; and many special friends and classmates. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Elsa and Charles Doane; great grandparents Beryl and Sadie Kupferer and Herman and Erna Rice; and an uncle Charles Herchel Doane IV. Mass Of Christian Burial for Carly will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church with Father Stephen Gianini officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., West Terre Haute. Friends are welcome to join the family Friday morning at the funeral home for a prayer service at 10:20 a.m. and procession to the church for Mass.
