Carolyn Chloe (Fulford) Sons, 77 of Terre Haute went to be with Jesus Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Carolyn was born September 2, 1938 in Greene County, Indiana to Elmer G. Fulford and Iva C. (Miller) Fulford.
Carolyn met the love of her life and soulmate Gene R. Sons while they both were working at the Goodie Shop as teens. Gene and Carolyn Sons were married for 59 years.
Carolyn was a full-time mom of two daughters. Her love and joy was always found from spending time with her Savior and family. She had many gifts and talents that the Lord gave her; playing the piano, writing music and children’s plays, making crafts, teaching God’s word, working with children’s ministries, and spending time in the flower garden. Carolyn always had a way of making each family holiday gathering special. She made sure each family member had a homemade craft with a scripture or story that spoke about God’s love. She was a member of Cross Tabernacle Church for many years.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Iva Miller Fulford, two brothers Hubert and Gene Fulford, and three sisters Norma Summerlot, Ruth Holman, and Wilma Baker.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years Gene R. Sons of Terre Haute, two daughters Cheryl Robertson, Janine Smith and husband H. David Smith, sister Leona Fulford Taylor and husband Harold Taylor. Carolyn had five grandchildren; Joshua, Chasity, Ryan, Ridgley, and Kacie; and seven great-grandchildren, Luke, Landen, Braydyn, Colytyn, Oliver, Victoria, and Zoul.
A visitation will be held at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home on Thursday, June 2nd from 3:00pm until 7:00pm with a funeral ceremony following the next day on Friday, June 3rd at the funeral home at 11:00am.
