Catherine C. Weeks, 97, of Rockville, passed away on Jan. 20th, leaving a legacy of music, warmth, and knowledge. Known for her radiant smile, Catherine had the rare gift of making whoever she was talking to feel like the most important person in the room.
Catherine’s life was defined by her unending sense of curiosity about everything. She prioritized her relationships above all else, traveling often to maintain the bonds she held dear.
A lifelong educator, Catherine shared her love of learning as a kindergarten and music teacher at Newport Elementary School. Her own passion for music was a cornerstone of her life; a talented clarinetist, she performed in three different community bands, Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, and Covington, contributing to the harmony of her community well into her later years. She belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, Parke-Vermillion County Retired Teachers, OLLI, Mended Hearts, and numerous other music, education, and mental health organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, with whom she will be reunited in Arlington National Cemetery and her brother, Bill VanDeman (Carol) of Greenwood, IN.
Catherine is survived by her son, Eric Weeks (Joni); her grandchildren, Kristen Sheehy (Ryan), Kelli Siegel (Matt), and Bryce Weeks (Savannah); her four great-grandchildren, Parker, Zander, Lyra, and Sawyer, and beloved niece and nephews, all of whom will remember her for her curiosity and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Service Information: A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2:00 pm at Clinton First United Methodist Church, Clinton, IN.
Memorial Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Catherine’s honor to your local food pantry, your local community band, or the Parke County Community Foundation.
