Charles Lee Irish Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Shores) Irish, whom he married Jan. 5, 1963; and they had three wonderful children, Nikki Hill and husband Luther of Nevada, Kimberly Schacke and husband James of Indianapolis, and Chuck Irish and wife Kim of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Tiffany and Seth Al-Kuwari, Deja Stewart, Cameron Hill, Caleb Barton, Logan Schacke, and Zachary and MaKayla Irish; two sisters, Susan Reik and husband Irwin and Carolyn Stephens and husband Ronnie.

Charlie was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He always put his family first. Charlie attended Fontanet School graduating with the class of 1960. He worked in technologies, retiring from Lucent Technologies. He loved attending ISU basketball games and attending Zachary and Makayla’s sports events. Charlie was a member of Higher Ground Christian Center, where he learned much about the Lord. Charlie will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Cremation is scheduled, as it was Charlie’s wishes. There will be a memorial service Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Higher Ground Christian Center, 8983 E. Rio Grande Ave., with Joe Mattox officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home & Crematory are in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Diabetes Association.
