It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our incredible father, Clifford Edwin Cornell, who departed this life peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 85 in Terre Haute, IN, after a long, happy life.
Born on July 12, 1940, in Highland Park, MI to the late Clifford Cornell and Mildred Kaechle, Clifford lived a life defined by family first, hard work, and humor.
Cliff graduated from Otter Creek High School and honorably served in the United States Army. He went on to a successful career as a maintenance worker at Weston Paper/International Paper for over 40 years. He was known for his dedication to his craft every day.
Beyond his work, Cliff enjoyed being outdoors and loved following his favorite sports teams: the Indiana Hoosiers, Indianapolis Colts, and especially the Los Angeles Dodgers. He found immense joy in camping, going to the casino, and spending time with his family and many great friends.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 64 years, Donna Cornell. A great father to their four children: one daughter, Tammala Burton (partner Daniel), and three sons, Mark Cornell (wife Eileen), Clifford Jr. (deceased) (wife Tauna), and Brian (deceased). Cliff was also a very loving grandfather to Jake Burton, Damian Burton, Tess Roberts (husband Brandon), and Taylor Cornell. He has several great-grandchildren: Nick, Atalie, Vanessa, Layla, Reagan, and a baby-to-be, who loved him dearly and called him "Pappy."
Clifford has one sister, Faye (husband Dick), and two brothers who preceded him in death: Dan (wife Char) and Ron (wife Sue). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Jack) and Alene (Tom), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He treasured all family events.
His legacy of laughter and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We love you so much, Dad/Pappy/Chief/Cookie, and will miss you immensely. Rest in peace.
