

Edna Marie Cook, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away on September 16, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 9, 1924, in Oaktown, IN to Ross and Pearl (Wiley) Barbee. She married the love of her life, Robert L. Cook on September 2, 1955. He survives. Edna worked at Thompson-Symon, Rankin Elementary School, and Columbia Records in the returns department. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother. She helped raise her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Edna is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert; their two children, Donna J. Purviance and Edward R. Cook and his wife Jill, all of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Joshua R. Purviance, Caleb M. Purviance, Paige L. Cook, and Morgan N. Cook, all of Terre Haute; three sisters, Mary Baldwin of St. Louis, Martha Davis of Mattoon, and Joy Hopkins of Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog and doorbell, Carmel.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wilmer and David Barbee; and sisters, Lorene Rieder, Margaret Thompson, Stella Shorter, and Rose Goodwin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 19 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, September 19 at the funeral home with Pastor Marvin Adams officiating.
