George W. Long

George William Long, 96, of Terre Haute passed away on August 12, 2019 at Meadows Manor North with his loving family by his side. George was born June 13, 1923 in Bowling Green, IN to Ernest Long and Hattie Belle (Chambers)Long. George was a veteran of WWII where he earned the Purple Heart. George was a member of The Rosedale Baptist Church. He retired from Pitman Moore and was an avid mall-walker. George is survived by his wife Eleanor, son John Long (Liz), stepchildren Becky Held (Greg) and Doug Taylor (Terry), grandsons John Long Jr. (Charlene), and Tim Long. He also has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. The family would like to extend our loving thanks to Meadows Manor North for the awesome care that was given to George during his stay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Rosedale Baptist Church, 116 North Depot St., Rosedale, IN 47874. Services will be Friday, August 16, 2019 1PM at Roselawn Funeral Home with the visitation from 10AM till service time at 1PM. Officiating will be Pastor Randy McPike.
