

Homer Glenn Easthom, 82, of North Terre Haute died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Union Hospital after a lengthy illness. He left this world surrounded by his family, including his wife of almost 60 years.
He was born in Terre Haute on December 31, 1933, to Otis G. and Letha May (Biggs) Easthom.
On March 31st, 1956 at Bethesda Methodist Church, Homer married Betty Joann Anderson of West Terre Haute.
Homer graduated from Otter Creek High School in 1952 and attended Indiana State Teacher’s College. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Midway.
In 1964, Homer founded A-1 Sanitation Service and retired when he sold the business in 1995.
He was a former or current member of the Associated Building Contractors, Noon Optimist Club, Vigo County Democrat Club, Otter Creek Democrat Club, Wabash Valley Racing Club, and Terre Haute North Vigo Men’s Club. Homer’s favorite pastimes included mushroom hunting, working in his yard, golf, Terre Haute North sports, Indiana University basketball, NASCAR & Indy-Car, and traveling with his family.
In addition to his wife, Homer leaves behind his daughters Gail Kuta (Konrad) of La Porte, and Katherine Easthom of Terre Haute. He is also survived by a brother James M. Easthom of Roanoke, VA, foster sister, Daisy Hoopingarner of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Joseph Easthom, and foster parents, Roy and Ellen McClara.
A celebration of Homer’s life will take place at 11:00am- 1:00pm, Saturday, March 5th at Mattox Wood Funeral Home in North Terre Haute. A brief service will follow at 1:00 at the funeral home. The family will also host a memorial luncheon immediately following the service at the Sandcut Volunteer Fire Department. Cremation has been chosen and will be interred at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
