

James Edmond “Jim” Jackson, 48, of Rosedale, a beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and good friend to all who knew him, passed peacefully at home on March 8, 2016 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Jim was born on May 27, 1967, in Indianapolis to Lester E. and Carol D. (Hyde) Jackson. The family moved to Seelyville where Jim attended school. He graduated from Terre Haute North High School in 1985. He proudly served in the Army National Guard “B” Company in Brazil from 1985 to 1999. He worked for many years as a driver for Kehe Distributors and earned recognition for “Million Miles.” He was a member of American Legion Post 290.
Jim had a love for racing and built a 1969 Firebird to drag race. He later won the Wally with the rear engine dragster in 2003at the National Dragster Challenge held at the Wabash Valley Dragway. His wife, children, and grandkids were always present at the races to support and cheer him on. He loved to work on car and boat engines and was always fixing things for his grandchildren.
Jim was a wonderful husband and father, but his best came out with his grandkids. He loved doting on them, taking them camping, boating, and attended Grandparent’s Day activities.
Jim married Susan K. Salmon on February 27, 2002 after dating for seven years. He is survived by his wife, Susan K. Jackson of Rosedale; a son, Joshua Rogers and fiancee Ashley Rowe; a step-daughter, Sarah Lewis and husband Ray; grandchildren, Madison Boatman, Gabe Lewis, MacKinzee Rogers, and a grandbaby on the way; a brother, Gary Jackson and wife Teresa; uncle, Robert Hyde; and in-laws, Glen Salmon, Jr., Mary Ellen King, Allen Salmon, Robert Salmon and wife Becky, John Salmon and wife Kim, and Phyllis Salmon; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Glen C. and Virginia Salmon, Sr., nephews Tyler E. Jackson and Lee Allen Salmon; and a sister-in-law Mary E. (Loving) Salmon.
Visitiation will be held from 4 to 7:30 on Friday, March 11 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Military honors provided by Rosedale American Legion Post 290. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of the Wabash Valley/VNA. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
