Jim was born in Terre Haute on May 11, 1935, the son of the late Samuel and Blanche (Cundiff) Lindsay. Serving our city with dignity and honor, Jim retired from the City of Terre Haute’s Police Department after 25 years of service. Although a quiet man, Jim’s sense of humor was unmatched. He enjoyed golfing, spending time at the F.O.P. and many active years with the Quarter Midget Racing. Jim also served with the United States Army during peace time.
Jim leaves behind his children, Sheryl Lindsay (Richard Bell), Michael Lindsay and Angie (Mark) Poole. He was the proud and loving grandpa of Ashlee D’Auria, Heather Atterson, Derrick Atterson, Cody (Jessica) Lindsay, Dylan Lindsay, Elizabeth Poole and Evan Poole. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Sophia D’Auria, Mya Atterson, Dakota Lindsay and Kiersten Lindsay; siblings, Betty Jane Garrett of Brazil, Gerald (Violet) Lindsay of Terre Haute and Robert (Yolanda) Lindsay of Orange Park, FL., along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Diane in 2006; brothers, Sam Lindsay, Jack E. Lindsay and sister, Donna Ferguson, along with his brother-in-law, Fred Garrett.
There will be no visitation or services held and private burial will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the F.O.P.
