James William Phillips, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Union Hospital. He was born on July 30, 1930, in Terre Haute to William and Mary (Newlin) Phillips.
James was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. A Korean War veteran, James proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from Wabash Valley Asphalt.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Jennette E. (Brownfield) Phillips, who passed in 2010.
He is survived by four sons: Bill Phillips of Phoenix, Arizona; James B. Phillips and Brian Phillips of Terre Haute; and Greg Phillips of Indianapolis; two daughters, Debbie Harris of Terre Haute and Linda Pharr of Panama City, Florida; three stepdaughters: Shela Seeley of McKinney, Texas; Brenda Robertson of El Paso, Texas; and Laura Stearley of Brazil; seven grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
James will be laid to rest with military honors at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4 in the Veteran's Columbarium in Roselawn Memorial Park. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
