

Jerry Drake, 66, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Signature Health Care. He was born on September 16, 1948, in Clinton, to Paul D. and Margaret Catherine Drake. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era.
Jerry was a hard worker. He worked as service manager for Wabash Valley Mobile Homes. He worked as a body shop manager for Shanks Motor Company and later for Mattingly Collision. He was an independent contractor for GAB, working as an appraiser. Jerry then worked and retired from Putnamville Correctional Facility.
Jerry was a talented musician, he played the alto saxophone since seventh grade. He was the last member of not only, the Jim Vanlandingham Dance Band, but also, the Leo Baxter Dance Band. He belonged to the American Federation of Musicians during that time period.
He loved cars, especially hot rods. He was a member of Wabash Valley Rodders, the Good Guys Rod and Custom Association, and American Legion Post 104.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Angela Drake, of Terre Haute; sons, Dean Drake and wife Elisha of Indianapolis, John Drake and girlfriend Angee of Terre Haute, and grandchildren, Christopher, Kaitlynn, Kelsey, Michael, and Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 on Friday, October 17, 2014, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steven Wendler officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites performed by American Legion Post 104. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hux Cancer Center of the Diabetes Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
