Jerry D. "Buck" Thomas

Jerry D. “Buck” Thomas, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 at his residence. He was born on October 26, 1941 in Terre Haute to Lawrence E. and Bernadine E. Walden Thomas. He married Janice M. Shelton on January 18, 1964.

He worked for the Terre Haute City Fire Department for 29+ years. Jerry served on the Board of Policemen & Firemen’s Museum, was a member of the Firefighter’s Local 758, and served on the Otter Creek Advisory Board for several terms. Jerry was a good father and husband and enjoyed spending time with his kids playing baseball, basketball and fishing. He and Jan enjoyed going to casinos. He was a true coffee enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking.

Jerry is survived by his children, Gregory D. Thomas of Terre Haute, Jeffrey S. Thomas and his wife Michele of Terre Haute, and Angela R. Thatcher and her husband Steven of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Marisa and Nathaniel Thomas and Braden Thatcher; sister, Judith A. Lints and her husband Leroy of Clay City; brother-in-law, Robert L. Bradbury; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bernadine; wife, Janice; brother, Larry E. Thomas; and sisters, Doris J. Bradbury, Carolyn S. Poff, and Pearl A. Stankovich.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home and on Tuesday, September 30th at 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Swan officiating.
