

Jerry R. Williams, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Exceptional Living Center in Brazil. He was born on February 13, 1932 in New Goshen to Maurice and Evelyn (Certain) Williams. He married Lucille Thompson and together they raised five children. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army and was in active combat during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a butcher and carpenter. He owned Williams Book Palace. Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and doing puzzles. He was an animal lover, and was especially fond of his beloved dog, Chip.
Jerry is survived by his children: Kathryn Fonner and her husband Steve of Tallapoosa, GA; Janet Volkers and her husband Frank of Terre Haute; Matthew Williams and his wife Pamula of West Terre Haute; and Joseph Williams of Lucedale, MS; grandchildren, Amber Pannell, Kevin Crist, Adam Crist, Frank S. Volkers, Kyle Volkers, Matthew Williams, Jr., Jason Williams, and Tyler Williams; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers Ralph Williams and Maurice Williams; and a sister Beverly Williams.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Lucille; son Michael Williams, and grandson Frank Bradley Crist.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 22 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Scot Longyear officiating.
