Jimmy Leon Nevel

Jimmy Leon Nevel, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Gibson Family Center in Union Hospital. He was born on July 21, 1937, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John R. and Pearl E. (Hodge) Nevel. Jimmy is survived by the mother of his children, Eula Hawks; their daughters, Kathleen Williams and husband Martin, Rhonda Harden and husband Maurice, Jimmie Condor and husband Brad, and Vickie Goodman and husband Clarence; grandchildren, Eddie Nevel, Michael Nevel, Martin Williams II, Joshua Nevel, Olivia Nevel, Andrea Nevel, Christina Lewis, Savannah Harden, Lenora Harden, Elizabeth Harden, Maurice Harden III, Jimmy Miller, James Williams Jr., Alisha Goodman, Sherman Adams II, Amy Goodman, Clarence Goodman Jr., Carl Goodman, and Angie Goodman; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Nevel; and eleven brothers and sisters. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of VFW Post 972 and Eagles Aerie 291. A self-employed carpenter, Jimmy loved to build things and work with his hands. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses, listening to country music, and relaxing with an ice cold beer after a long day. In accordance with Jimmy's wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with his arrangements.
