Joan Ruth Cox

Joan Ruth (Johnson) Cox, of Terre Haute, went to be with The Lord on November 21st, 2015. She was born in Terre Haute in 1932 to John Johnson and Kathryn (Harris) Johnson. She was the wife of Paul Emerson Cox.

Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a 1950 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School, Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Terre Haute Chapter #43, a member of the Purdue Extension Lafayette Home Economics Club. Joan enjoyed traveling, watching birds from the porch, and always having family around. She always made sure there were cookies made on the table next to her candy bowl. She loved people and living her life and she enjoyed it to the fullest! She was a blessing to every life that she touched.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband Paul Emerson Cox, parents, sisters Carol Inman and Janet Sue Johnson.

She is survived by children Paul Cox (Renee) of Florida, Dianne Reeves (Louis) of Terre Haute, Kathy Bradbury (Donald) of Terre Haute, and John Cox of Florida; grandchildren Cora Nesbit, Bradley Hendrix, Brandy Myers, Paul Cox lll, Deborah Lopez, Kyle Seeley, Glenn Cox, Jordan Cox, Erin Cox, Michael Cox, Louis Andrew Reeves, Sean Reeves, Terrie Bradshaw, and Ashley Bradshaw; nine great grandchildren; sisters Judy Anstead (Kenny) and Shirley Johnson; brother Thomas Johnson; in-laws Mary Cox and Kenny Cox; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 am-1:45 pm at Mattox-Wood Funeral home on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 with Deborah Lopez officiating. Eastern Star services begin at 1:45 with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park immediately following services.
