John was born December 8, 1954 in Terre Haute, to Franklin and Dorothy (Dardeen) Lowery. John attended Terre Haute South Vigo High School. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR, playing cards, and most of all spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sherri (Black) Lowery; two sons, John Jr. and wife Allison Lowery, Michael Lowery and companion Ashley Lewis; one sister, Kathy McQuilkin and husband Howard; one brother, James Lowery; two grand-daughters, Rachel and Grace Lowery; one grand-son, Jaden Lowery; and several nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Dorothy Lowery; one sister, Anna (Lowery) Hoopingarner; and one nephew, John Michael Yasko.
Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2017 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Per John’s wishes cremation was chosen. Online condolences can be made at www.mattoxwood.com
