Johnnie is survived by four daughters, Pam (Jeff) Allen, Dorothy (Jim) David, Julie (Jim) Stevens, and Deana (Kevin) Cull ; two sons, Ernest Bedford and Norman (Judy) Bedford; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn; his brother, Nick; and a sister.
Johnnie proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He worked for many years at Western Paper as a member of the Local Steelworkers Union. A proud veteran, Johnnie was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 346, serving as a Commander for 5 years. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 972 and a member of Voiture 40 & 8. Johnnie was also a member of St. Joseph University Parish.
Johnnie loved to listen to music; he especially enjoyed old time rock and roll. He liked to relax by watching old westerns. The things he enjoyed may have been oldies, but they were still goodies.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, October 30 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at noon on Friday, at the funeral home with Father Savio officiating. Johnnie will be laid to rest next to his wife in Roselawn Memorial Park.
