

Juliann Carmilla Seal, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. Vincent Clay County Hospital. She was born on August 13, 1936, in Terre Haute to Arthur and Elizabeth (Kodilya) Lightner.
Juliann is survived by her seven children: Roger Wilcox of Terre Haute, Patrick Seal of Houston, Katherine Quicksall of San Antonio, Carol Holcomb of Converse, TX, Suzan Porter of Brazil, Theresa Fischer of Terre Haute, and Anthony Seal of Mansfield, OH; a brother, Paul T. Lightner of Anchorage, AK; uncle, John Love of Campville, KY; fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins; and last, but not least, her beagle, Mary Jane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several aunts and uncles; and her beloved little dog, Ginny.
Juliann worked for several years as a nurses’ aide at St. Anthony’s Hospital and later as a mantel maker at Glas-Col. She was an active volunteer for the Boy Scouts from the time her children were young and continued to help out at camp and other scouting activities. Juliann was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and enjoyed participating in the Faith Group, volunteering as a reader, and helping out at any other activities at the church. She loved to crochet and make crafts. She looked forward to learning new crafts whenever she could. Juliann loved to showcase her crocheting and crafts at craft shows and festivals throughout the Wabash Valley.
Blessed with an amazing sense of humor, Juliann always had a joke ready to bring a smile to someone’s face. She was kind and generous, always willing to help others. She would give whatever she could to make sure someone else didn’t go without. She enjoyed reading. Most of all, she cherished her family and the time she spent with them. She will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27 at Sacred Heart Church. Juliann will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
