Nécrologie de Kathryn Elizabeth Rogers
Kathryn Elizabeth Rogers, 96, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Thursday, November 5, 2020. She was born on January 10, 1924, in Terre Haute, to Ernest Hobart and Laura Josephine (Graves) Leach. She grew up on the family farm located outside of Terre Haute with her siblings, Hubert, Mildred “Middy”, Vern Ray, Barbara, Beverly, and Howard Joseph. At 16, she married her first love, George Rogers, in 1940. They settled in the city of Terre Haute and had four children, George, Gary, Sandra, and Belinda. Kathryn loved the outdoors from camping and fishing to simply tooling around in her vegetable garden. She worked at Pfizer for 10 years. For 18 years, Kathryn was a Foster Grandmother for the Vigo County School Corporation, working with children in Head Start and adults at Happiness Bag. At one time an avid bowler, Kathryn knew how to unwind and loved to dance. A master with needle and thread, Kathryn was an amazing seamstress, making clothes for herself, her children and grandchildren, including a stunning prom dress. In the late 1940’s and early 1950’s, she sewed nightgowns for the poor house residents. She volunteered her impeccable sewing talents for Terre Haute North’s Marching Band, sewing uniforms and flags for 8 years. Kathryn was an adventurous, yet humble and giving woman who knew that family mattered the most. Her tenacity and warm-heartedness continues to shine brightly in the hearts and memories of her family. She was loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed. Kathryn is survived by her four children: George E. Rogers and wife Pat, Gary L. Rogers, Sandra K. Davis, and Belinda Pattison and husband Wayne. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Steve (Suzanne) Rogers, Michelle (Mark) Emery, Garrett (Taren) Rogers, Amber (Dustin) Prechtel, Tiffany (Chris) VanCamp, Gary Lee (Lori) Rogers II, Kathryn Renee Stevens, Rachael Michelle (Shelly) Stevens, Tonya Cameron, and Lisa Rogers; sister, Beverly Egnew; great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five siblings, and grandchildren, Bobbie Stevens and George Rogers II. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 13 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 14 at the funeral home. Kathryn will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
